Coming Events in Turley: Dec. & Beyond

Come Check out all the goings-on and community spirit at A Third Place, 6514 N. Peoria Ave.

We are now members of the Oklahoma Food Coop. You too can therefore order food and crafts and all kinds of things through us between the first day of the month and the second Thursday. This month between Dec. 1 and 11th. Go to http://www.oklahomafood.coop/ and see what all can be ordered then email your order to RevRonRobinson@aol.com and arrange payment. Orders are delivered on the Third Thursday and can be picked up at A Third Place that evening or the next day. For more info see the posters at A Third Place or call Ron at 430-1150.

Health Clinic meets 9 am to 4 pm on Mondays, Tuesday, Fridays. Call 660-3614

Also, each Thursday at 7 pm the Turley Fire Department at 64th and N. Peoria is open to tour, meet the members, and learn more on how you can help. If you are a property owner in Turley also sign the Fire Department petition to create a Fire District which will help support the Fire Department by spreading the dues to property owners who currently don't pay anything, and perhaps lowering the fire dues of those who are paying now. The Fire Dept is also looking for new volunteer firefighters, as well as volunteers in all capacities.

Wednesdays in December, beginning Dec. 3, 5 p.m., Intro to Basic Spanish, taught by Chris Newsome, at O'Brien Park Recreation Center.

Wednesdays beginning Dec. 3: Morning Prayer for the Community and breakfast beginning at 7 a.m.; 11 a.m. bible chat with Ron; noonprayer and meal; Vespers 6 pm meal, conversation and study, and communion worship by TheLivingRoom Church.

Friday, Dec. 5 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. OU Clinic Flu Day

Friday, Dec. 5, 5:30 pm TCC NE campus back by fitness center southeast section of campus, meeting with other leaders in House District 72 and with State Rep. Seneca Scott on coalition building. Monthly meeting. Food provided by Newsome Farms.

Tuesday Dec. 9 Noon Sherry Clark of http://www.facestulsa.org/ and Oklahoma Crime Commission on "Building A Safer Turley." Come learn personal and neighborhood safety tips.

Thursday, Dec. 11 Final Day to order monthly Food Coop order

Saturday Dec. 13 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lodge, 6227 N. Quincy, proceeds to A Third Place. Freewill donation for pancake, eggs, biscuit and gravy, juice, coffee breakfast. Invite friends, family, others, help us raise funds and create relationships at same time.

Saturday Dec. 13, 10 a.m. to ? Let Turley Bloom Day work at 66th and N. Lewis; reclaiming and recreating the visible intersection to beautify an entry point in our community. For more call Bonnie Ashing 430-1150.

Free Nutrition classes set in Turley

With the help of the OU Health Clinic, the OSU Extension Center is offering free nutrition classes here at A Third Place community center, now every Thursday at 12:30 p.m. You can come to all or any one of the classes. The next one will be Thursday, Sept. 18 and the topic will be on Food Safety. It is a timely and needed topic, especially for families, day cares, and more. Help us spread the word.
